Front inner tie rod end for 1969-1970 Chevrolet models (Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, and other A-body/F-body applications depending on steering linkage). This precision-machined replacement part secures the inner end of the steering linkage to the steering rack or center link, providing accurate steering input, reduced play, and improved vehicle control. Constructed from hardened steel with a corrosion-resistant finish and a durable ball stud, it restores factory steering geometry and reliability. Ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance, it offers long-lasting performance and straightforward installation to get classic Chevrolets back on the road with tight, responsive steering.
Features:
- Fits 1969-1970 Chevrolet front inner tie rod applications (Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle, Nova and compatible models—verify your chassis/steering type).
- Hardened steel construction for strength and long service life.
- Precision ball stud and tapered seat to restore accurate steering alignment and eliminate play.
- Corrosion-resistant finish helps resist rust and extends part life.
- Direct-replacement design for easy restoration or maintenance of factory steering geometry.
- Packed with grease fitting or sealed design options to reduce wear and simplify upkeep.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Secure vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels. Raise front of vehicle and support with jack stands; remove the front wheel for access.
- Locate the inner tie rod end where it connects to the steering rack or center link. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners and fittings if needed.
- Remove any retaining clips or cotter pins from the outer tie rod and loosen the jam nut. Disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or pickle fork, then unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner to clear the assembly if necessary.
- Loosen and remove the retaining nut/fastener securing the inner tie rod to the rack or center link. Use appropriate tools to unthread the inner tie rod from the steering rack (some models require holding the rack while turning the tie rod).
- Compare the new inner tie rod to the old unit to ensure correct length and thread type. Apply thread locker or anti-seize per vehicle service recommendations.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it into the steering rack or center link to the original position. Torque the retaining nut to factory specifications.
- Reassemble the outer tie rod to the inner tie rod, set the original toe measurement or match the number of turns removed, and tighten the jam nut. Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and secure with the appropriate nut and cotter pin.
- If equipped, grease the fitting until fresh grease appears at the boot. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
- Because tie rod replacement can affect wheel alignment, have a professional alignment performed or check toe and steering geometry before driving.
