Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) designed for 1988–2014 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac models. This inner tie rod end connects the steering rack to the outer tie rod, translating steering input into wheel direction while maintaining alignment and steering precision. Built to meet OE fitment and performance standards, it restores steering feel, reduces play, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Durable construction and corrosion-resistant finishes deliver long service life, and the part is designed for direct replacement during suspension or steering system repairs.
Features:
- Fitment: Direct-fit inner tie rod end for 1988–2014 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac vehicles (inner, right or left hand applications).
- OE-style thread and ball-socket design for accurate steering response and reduced play.
- Hardened steel stud and housing for strength and long-term durability.
- Protective boot seals out dirt and moisture to prevent premature wear.
- Precision-machined components for correct alignment and easy installation.
- Restoration-grade replacement ideal for repairing worn steering components and improving vehicle safety.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45–90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and block rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise vehicle with jack and secure on jack stands, then remove the front wheel.
- Locate the inner tie rod on the steering rack; apply penetrating oil to lock nut and threads if corroded.
- Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the inner tie rod or measure the length from a fixed point to preserve alignment.
- Remove the tie rod end cotter pin (if applicable) and loosen the castle nut or lock nut on the outer tie rod.
- Use a tie rod end remover or pickle fork to separate the outer tie rod from the knuckle, then fully disengage the outer tie rod from the inner to expose the inner tie rod.
- Loosen and remove the inner tie rod lock nut or retaining hardware at the rack end.
- Unscrew and remove the inner tie rod from the steering rack using an adjustable wrench or inner tie rod tool.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the steering rack to the factory-specified engagement depth; tighten to the manufacturer torque spec.
- Reinstall the retaining/lock nut and any washers, then reconnect the outer tie rod and tighten the lock/castle nut to spec. Reinstall cotter pin if required.
- Return the outer tie rod to the marked position or measured length to maintain alignment, then torque all fasteners to factory specifications.
- Reinstall wheel, lower vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- It is strongly recommended to have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering and tire wear.
