A direct-fit bolt kit designed for restoring and securing the proportioning valve on classic Chevrolets. Built from corrosion-resistant hardware, this kit fastens the proportioning valve solidly to its mounting bracket to prevent loosening, vibration, and brake-line stress. Compatible with 1955-1964 Chevy vehicles, it provides durable, reliable replacement parts that simplify brake-system restoration and maintenance while improving long-term safety and fitment.
Features:
- Fits 1955-1964 Chevy passenger cars (proportioning valve mounting hardware).
- Corrosion-resistant plated steel hardware for long service life and rust protection.
- Includes the bolts, washers and nuts needed for direct replacement of worn or missing fasteners.
- Secures the proportioning valve to reduce vibration, prevent line fatigue and maintain correct alignment.
- Easy to install as a restoration or maintenance replacement to restore factory fit and function.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 15-45 minutes
Instructions:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface, chock wheels and wear safety gear. If brake lines will be loosened, depressurize the brake system and be prepared to catch fluid.
- Locate the proportioning valve and mounting bracket. Inspect the area for corrosion, dirt and paint that could prevent proper seating.
- Apply penetrating oil to any stubborn fasteners and remove the old hardware. If brake lines are disconnected, cap lines and catch any fluid in a pan.
- Clean the mounting surface with a wire brush and brake cleaner until free of rust and debris to ensure a flat, solid contact area.
- Position the proportioning valve on the bracket and align holes. Install new bolts, washers and nuts from the kit. Use thread locker on threads if desired for added security.
- Tighten hardware by hand first, then torque to the vehicle manufacturer's specified value for the bolt size. If torque specs are unknown, tighten evenly and securely without over-torquing.
- If any brake lines were disconnected, reattach and torque fittings to spec. Bleed the brake system to remove air and check for leaks at fittings and the valve.
- Lower the vehicle (if raised), perform a cautious road test and recheck all fasteners and fluid levels. Retorque if necessary and dispose of any brake fluid properly.
