The Precision Vent Glass Weatherstrip Seal Kit (Left and Right, 4-piece) VWK 1110 55 is a direct-fit replacement for second-series 1955 Volkswagen Beetle vent (quarter) windows. Designed to seal and stabilize the vent glass, this kit prevents water intrusion, reduces wind noise and vibration, and restores proper fitment for restored or daily-driven classics. Constructed from durable weather-resistant rubber, the seals provide reliable long-term performance while simplifying installation and improving cabin comfort and protection.
Features:
- Fits 1955 Volkswagen Beetle (Second Series) — left and right vent/quarter windows, 4-piece kit.
- Made from durable, weather-resistant rubber formulated to resist UV, ozone and temperature extremes.
- Seals vent glass to prevent water leaks, wind noise and rattling while improving door fitment.
- Direct replacement profile for original vent channels — ideal for restorations and maintenance.
- Easy to install with basic tools; designed to seat snugly for reliable long-term performance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and remove vent/quarter window assembly: open vent, remove retaining screws and pivot hardware as required for your model.
- Carefully lift vent glass and set aside on a protected surface or remove entire vent frame from door if needed to access seals.
- Remove old weatherstrips by prying gently with a trim tool or flathead screwdriver; note orientation and routing of each piece.
- Thoroughly clean the seal channel and glass mating surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth to remove adhesive residue, dirt and old rubber fragments.
- Test-fit each new seal piece to confirm correct position: identify left/right and top/bottom pieces before final installation.
- Apply a light coat of silicone lubricant to the seal channel and inner bead of the new rubber to ease installation and help the seal seat evenly.
- Begin seating the new weatherstrip into the channel at one corner, working around the perimeter and pressing the seal bead fully into the channel. Use a rubber mallet or block of wood to tap gently if needed.
- Use masking tape to hold the seal in place while you install the remaining pieces and re-seat any overlapping joints; trim excess with a utility knife if required for a perfect fit.
- Reinstall the vent glass/frame and pivot hardware, tightening screws to secure the assembly. Ensure vent opens/closes smoothly and the seals compress evenly.
- Check for leaks and wind noise: spray a light mist of water around the vent while an assistant gently closes the door, or perform a road test to verify a proper seal. Re-adjust if necessary.
