Complete hinge pin and bushing kit for 1949–1954 Chevrolet passenger cars, engineered to restore proper door alignment, eliminate sag, and return hinge action to like-new performance. Precision-machined steel pins and durable, corrosion-resistant bushings provide long-lasting support and smooth pivoting. Ideal for restoration projects and routine replacement, this kit supplies the components needed to service both doors quickly and reliably, improving fit, sealing, and overall appearance.
Features:
  • Fits 1949–1954 Chevrolet passenger cars — completes two doors.
  • Precision-machined steel hinge pins with corrosion-resistant finish for long life.
  • Durable bushings designed to reduce wear, provide smooth pivoting, and restore factory fit.
  • Complete kit includes pins, bushings and retaining hardware for both doors.
  • Simple installation with basic tools — perfect for restorations or maintenance to stop door sag and improve alignment.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 1–2 hours (both doors)
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack or door prop and wood block
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Open-end wrenches
  • Hammer and brass drift/punch
  • Penetrating oil
  • Grease or grease gun
  • Bench vise or rubber mallet/press (optional)
  • Safety glasses and gloves
Instructions:
  1. Open the door and support it from the bottom with a floor jack and a wood block to relieve hinge load.
  2. Spray penetrating oil on existing hinge pins and let soak to ease removal.
  3. Remove any retaining clips or cotter pins from the hinge assembly.
  4. Use a brass drift or punch and hammer to drive out the old hinge pins; remove the worn bushings.
  5. Clean the hinge bore with a rag and inspect for damage or excessive wear; remove rust and debris.
  6. Press or tap the new bushings into the hinge bore until fully seated (use a vise or appropriate-sized driver if available).
  7. Apply a light coat of grease to the new bushings and hinge pins, then insert the new pins through the hinge assembly.
  8. Reinstall retaining clips or hardware, lower the jack supporting the door, and check door alignment and operation.
  9. If necessary, adjust striker or hinge mount bolts to fine-tune door fit, then cycle the door several times and apply final lubrication.
