The Precision Lockstrip Joint Clip LJC 848 B is a durable OEM-style clip designed to secure lockstrip and exterior trim where metal molding meets body panels. It holds trim tightly in place to prevent rattles, misalignment and water intrusion during driving or restoration work. Constructed from high-strength, corrosion-resistant metal with a precision-formed profile, this clip provides reliable retention, long service life, and straightforward installation for vehicles that use LJC 848 B-style lockstrip fittings.
Features:
- High-strength, corrosion-resistant metal construction for long-lasting retention and rust protection.
- Designed to fasten lockstrip and exterior trim, reducing vibration and preventing trim separation.
- Precision-formed profile ensures consistent alignment and a secure snap-fit with OEM-style moldings.
- Easy to install replacement for worn or damaged clips during trim restoration and body repairs.
- Ideal for restoring original fit and finish — helps maintain factory appearance and prevents water intrusion.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 10–30 minutes (per clip or small section)
Instructions:
- Remove the trim or molding section to expose the old clip(s) using a trim removal tool or flat screwdriver, taking care not to bend the molding.
- Remove the old or damaged clip by prying gently with the trim tool or using pliers to pull it free; retain the lockstrip or molding orientation for reinstallation.
- Clean the mounting channel and adjacent metal with a cloth and mild solvent to remove dirt, rust, or adhesive residue; let dry.
- Position the new LJC 848 B clip onto the vehicle flange or into the lockstrip channel so the clip’s locating features align with the panel holes or seam.
- Press the clip firmly into place until it snaps or seats fully; use a rubber mallet for even pressure if necessary — avoid excessive force that could deform the clip or trim.
- Reinstall the lockstrip or molding by guiding it onto the mounted clips and pressing along the length until each clip engages and the trim sits flush.
- Check alignment and retention by gently tugging the trim and visually inspecting gaps; replace any clips that do not seat correctly.
