Precision Windshield Top Molding WFT 1089 is a direct-fit top windshield trim piece designed to secure and seal the upper edge of the windshield. It prevents water intrusion, reduces wind noise, and protects the windshield edge from road debris and corrosion. Engineered for durability and a factory-style appearance, this molding restores proper alignment and finish to the windshield opening. Fits a range of vehicles — confirm compatibility with part number WFT 1089 before purchase.
Features:
- Durable, weather-resistant construction designed to resist UV, ozone and road chemicals.
- Seals and secures the top edge of the windshield to prevent leaks and wind noise.
- OEM-style profile for accurate fitment and original appearance.
- Easy installation with clip-and-adhesive retention; replaces cracked, warped or missing molding.
- Helps prevent water damage and trim corrosion around the windshield opening.
- Ideal for restoration, maintenance, or replacement during windshield service.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 15–45 minutes (plus adhesive cure time if used)
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface and protect surrounding paint with masking tape or drop cloths.
- Carefully pry up the old top molding with a plastic trim tool or small flat-head screwdriver to release retaining clips; remove any clips that come free.
- Remove old adhesive or residue from the windshield flange using an adhesive cleaner or rubbing alcohol and a clean rag; ensure the surface is dry and free of debris.
- Test-fit the new WFT 1089 molding along the top edge to confirm orientation and clip alignment.
- If clips are separate, install them onto the molding or windshield flange per the original configuration.
- If the molding requires adhesive, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the flange following the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
- Position the molding at the top edge and press firmly along its length so clips engage and adhesive bonds; use masking tape to hold molding in place if needed while adhesive sets.
- Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately with a clean rag and solvent recommended by the adhesive maker.
- Allow adhesive to cure per product directions (often 30 minutes to several hours) before driving; check for gaps and confirm the molding is secure.
