Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and open the door, trunk, or hatch where the seal will be replaced.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: pry out retainers or pull the seal from the trim groove. Use trim tool to avoid damaging paint or trim.
- Clean the groove and surrounding area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or adhesive cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and residue. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip along the groove to confirm orientation and length. Trim excess length with a utility knife or scissors as needed, cutting conservatively to ensure proper end-to-end fit.
- Apply a thin bead of automotive weatherstrip adhesive into the cleaned groove or on the back of the seal where specified by the adhesive manufacturer.
- Starting at one end, press the new weatherstrip into the groove, working along the full length. Ensure the profile seats evenly and the seal engages the groove continuously.
- Use masking tape to hold the seal in place and maintain contact while adhesive cures. Wipe any excess adhesive promptly with a clean cloth and solvent recommended by the adhesive maker.
- Allow adhesive to cure per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions (typically several hours). Remove tape, close and open the door/trunk several times to seat the seal, and inspect for gaps or uneven sections.
- Reinstall any trim or hardware removed earlier and perform a water test (hose) or visual inspection to confirm the seal prevents leaks and eliminates wind noise.
