This Door Opening and Upper Weatherstrip Seal Kit (DWK 1110 60) provides matched left- and right-hand seals designed to restore the door opening perimeter and upper sash area. The kit creates a tight, reliable barrier that prevents water intrusion, dust, and wind noise while helping maintain proper door alignment and reducing vibration. Molded from durable weather-resistant rubber with a factory-profile cross-section, the seals resist UV, ozone, and temperature extremes for long service life. Easy to trim and install, this kit is ideal for restoration projects and routine maintenance where restoring original sealing performance is required.
Features:
- Left and right hand door opening and upper sash weatherstrips included for a complete seal restoration
- Durable weather-resistant rubber construction (EPDM-style) resists UV, ozone and temperature degradation
- Designed to recreate original profile for proper door alignment and secure sealing
- Reduces wind noise, prevents water intrusion and blocks dust for improved cabin comfort
- Easy to install and trim — suitable for restoration or replacement applications
- Helps reduce vibration and rattles for a quieter, more solid-feeling door operation
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Open the door and remove the old weatherstrip: carefully pry out any retaining clips or adhesive while protecting painted surfaces with a trim tool or cloth.
- Thoroughly clean the mounting channel and surrounding area with rubbing alcohol or an adhesive cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and residue. Allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new left- and right-hand seals along the door opening and upper sash to confirm orientation and required trim length.
- If the seals require adhesive, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting channel following the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions; if seals are self-adhesive, remove the backing a few inches at a time during installation.
- Press the seal into the channel starting at one end, working steadily to avoid gaps or folds. Use masking tape to hold sections in place if needed while adhesive sets.
- Trim any excess material with scissors or a utility knife for a clean finish. Ensure corner transitions are seated properly and overlap or butt joints are neat.
- Allow adhesive to cure per the adhesive manufacturer’s recommended time before closing the door or exposing to moisture.
- Check the door for proper fit and operation; make minor adjustments to the seal seating if necessary to eliminate wind noise or ensure even compression.
