The Precision Glass Weatherstrip Lockstrip WLS 466 is a heavy‑duty door glass lockstrip designed to retain the window glass and seal the door weatherstrip, restoring proper alignment, reducing wind noise and preventing water intrusion. Made from corrosion‑resistant stamped steel with a durable finish, this lockstrip replaces worn or crushed channels to secure the glass within the door and provide a reliable mounting for the outer and inner weatherseals. Suitable for a wide range of classic and modern vehicles — verify profile and length against the original part for correct fitment — it is an essential restoration and maintenance component that improves window operation and long‑term seal performance.
Features:
- Fits many classic and modern vehicles — verify profile and length against the original part before installation.
- Stamped, corrosion‑resistant steel construction for long service life and reliable retention of glass.
- Restores correct glass alignment and secures the door weatherstrip to reduce wind noise and water leaks.
- Designed as a direct replacement for worn or damaged lockstrip channels during door restoration.
- Can be trimmed or adjusted to match original length and contour for a custom fit.
- Easy to install with common hand tools — ideal for professional restoration or DIY door repairs.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60–120 minutes per door
Instructions:
- Disconnect battery (if needed for powered windows) and remove the door panel and any inner vapor barrier carefully to access the window channel.
- Lower the window glass to a position where the lockstrip and weatherstrip can be reached; support the glass with tape or a helper to prevent dropping.
- Remove the old weatherstrip and lockstrip: cut any adhesive, unclip retainers, and carefully pry the old channel out of the door frame.
- Clean the door channel thoroughly with solvent and a rag; remove rust, debris, and old adhesive. File or deburr any sharp edges.
- Measure the new WLS 466 against the old piece and trim to length if required, leaving enough overlap for proper seating (use a fine saw or cutoff wheel and deburr cut ends).
- Test fit the new lockstrip in the channel; align it to the door frame and tap it gently into place with a rubber mallet. Ensure the channel lip faces the correct direction to accept the weatherstrip.
- Reinstall or seat the door weatherstrip into the new lockstrip channel, pressing evenly along the length to achieve a uniform seal. Use clips or adhesive where original fasteners were located.
- Lower and raise the glass slowly to verify smooth operation, proper alignment, and a consistent seal. Make any minor adjustments as needed.
- Reinstall the vapor barrier and door panel, reconnect any electrical connectors, and perform a final function test for window movement and door sealing.
