Precision Vent Glass, Tempered Left or Right Hand Grey (Second Series 2054T GRY) is a direct-fit replacement vent window designed to restore the original look and function of your vehicle's vent assembly. Made from tempered grey safety glass, this vent panel provides improved durability, reduced glare, and protection against impacts. It seals against wind and water to help reduce noise and interior weather intrusion while maintaining correct alignment with factory channels and trim. Ideal for restoration or routine replacement, the part offers reliable performance and straightforward installation for restoring proper operation and appearance.
Features:
- Tempered grey safety glass resists impacts and edge chipping for long-term durability.
- Available for left or right hand vent assemblies (Second Series 2054T GRY).
- OEM-style dimensions and edge finish for accurate fit in factory channels and seals.
- Helps reduce wind noise and prevent water intrusion when installed with proper seals.
- Straightforward replacement — ideal for restorations and maintenance to preserve originality.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45 minutes - 1.5 hours
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, roll window down if applicable, and disconnect the battery if needed for power accessories.
- Remove the interior door panel or access cover to expose the vent assembly mounting screws and pivot hardware.
- Carefully peel back or remove the interior weatherstrip and any trim that overlaps the vent frame. Use masking tape to protect surrounding paint and trim.
- Support the vent frame from the outside while loosening and removing the hinge/pivot fasteners and any retaining screws or clips.
- Gently open the vent frame and lift out the old vent glass. If glass is broken, remove fragments safely using gloves and a vacuum if necessary.
- Clean the channel and frame mating surfaces of old adhesive, dirt, and debris. Wipe with a clean rag and mild cleaner; allow to dry.
- Position the new tempered vent glass into the frame channels, ensuring correct orientation (left or right) and that rubber edges seat evenly.
- Align the vent frame and reinstall hinge/pivot fasteners. Torque fasteners snugly but avoid over-tightening which can stress the glass.
- Reinstall weatherstrip and trim, check for even gaps and proper sealing. Operate the vent to verify smooth motion and correct alignment.
- Reattach the interior door panel, test for wind noise and leaks, and make any minor adjustments to the vent frame alignment as needed.
