A precision-engineered vent glass weatherstrip kit designed to restore a watertight, rattle-free seal around front vent windows. This two-piece left and right set fits classic Volkswagen Type 1 vehicles (Beetle and Karmann Ghia) and is intended to replace worn or cracked factory seals. The profile securely cushions the vent glass, prevents water intrusion, wind noise and dust ingress, and reduces vibration. Constructed from durable, weather-resistant elastomer, the seals offer long service life and simple installation, making them ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance.
Features:
- Fits classic Volkswagen Type 1 vehicles (Beetle and Karmann Ghia) — verify exact year/model fitment before purchase.
- Two-piece left and right design for direct replacement of vent glass seals.
- High-quality, weather-resistant elastomer resists UV, ozone and temperature extremes.
- Seals vent glass to prevent water leaks, wind noise and dust entry while reducing rattles.
- Durable construction suitable for restorations and long-term maintenance.
- Snap-in/press-fit profile for straightforward installation with common hand tools.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a flat surface and open the vent window fully. If necessary, remove the vent glass assembly per vehicle service instructions.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip by prying out the seal from the channel using a trim tool or flat screwdriver. Take care not to damage surrounding trim or the vent frame.
- Clean the vent channel thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth to remove old adhesive residue, dirt, and grease. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal(s) to confirm left/right orientation and proper length. Trim any excess with a utility knife so the seal seats flush in the channel.
- Apply a light coating of soapy water or rubber lubricant to the seal profile to ease installation (avoid solvent-based lubricants).
- Starting at one end, press the new weatherstrip into the vent channel, working along the length and ensuring the seal seats evenly. Use a soft block or rubber mallet to gently seat tight sections if needed.
- Reinstall the vent glass assembly (if removed) and cycle the vent to ensure smooth operation and correct alignment. Check for gaps and adjust if necessary.
- Perform a water test (hose or light spray) to confirm there are no leaks and that the seal prevents wind noise and rattles.
