Precision Windshield Molding WIS D1161 is a replacement windshield molding designed to secure and protect the perimeter of the windshield, help seal against water and wind intrusion, and restore the vehicle’s finished appearance. Engineered for long-term durability with corrosion-resistant components and resilient sealing material, this molding provides a reliable barrier that reduces wind noise, prevents chipping at the glass edge, and aids correct windshield alignment during installation. It’s ideal for restoration, repair, or windshield replacement projects where an OEM-style fit and finish are required.
Features:
- Constructed from durable, weather-resistant sealing material with corrosion-resistant retention components.
- Helps seal the windshield, reduce wind noise, and prevent water intrusion and edge damage.
- Designed to align and secure windshield glass during installation for a clean OEM-style appearance.
- Easy to install with common trim tools; suitable for restoration and replacement applications.
- Resists UV, ozone and temperature cycling for long-lasting performance and appearance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and wear safety gloves and eye protection.
- If windshield will be removed, carefully remove exterior trim pieces and any retaining clips using plastic trim tools and screwdrivers.
- Clean the windshield channel and surrounding pinch-weld area with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol to remove old sealant, dirt, and debris.
- Inspect the molding for any pre-installed clips or insert new corrosion-resistant clips as needed for your vehicle’s retention system.
- Position the molding along the windshield edge and work it into the channel, starting at one corner and progressing evenly to avoid stretching or twisting the material.
- Align the molding so that retention clips (or the molded lip) seat fully into the channel; use masking tape to hold sections in place if necessary.
- If windshield adhesive or urethane is required, apply per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions before seating the glass, then press the molding into final position against the adhesive bead.
- Reinstall any removed trim pieces and check the molding perimeter for uniform fit; allow any adhesive/sealant to cure per manufacturer specifications before driving.
- Perform a water test or visual inspection for gaps and re-torque or reseat clips if any leaks or loose sections are detected.
