Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, set parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery cable as a safety precaution.
  2. Remove any accessory drive belts, fan shroud, or harmonic balancer as required to access the timing cover according to vehicle service procedures.
  3. Carefully remove the old timing cover bolts and fasteners. Note location and length of each fastener if they vary.
  4. Clean the mating surfaces thoroughly with a gasket scraper and degreaser, removing old gasket material and oil residue. Wipe dry with a clean rag.
  5. If using a new gasket or sealant, position the gasket on the block or apply a thin, even bead of RTV where specified by the gasket manufacturer.
  6. Align the timing cover in place and hand-start the supplied bolts to ensure proper fit and thread engagement. Use the correct bolts in their original or corresponding locations.
  7. Tighten bolts in a criss-cross pattern to evenly seat the cover. Refer to the vehicle service manual for factory torque specifications and final torque sequence.
  8. Reinstall the harmonic balancer, belts, fan shroud, and any removed accessories. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
