Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) engineered as a direct-fit replacement for 1984–1987 Chevrolet Corvette steering assemblies. This critical steering component connects the steering rack/drag link to the outer tie rod, transferring steering input while maintaining proper toe alignment. Built for durability and precise fit, it restores solid steering feel, reduces play and vibration, and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance where reliable steering performance and long service life are required.
Features:
- Fits 1984-1987 Chevrolet Corvette (inner tie rod end, right and left hand fitment).
- Direct-fit replacement for factory inner tie rod ends to restore steering precision.
- Durable alloy ball stud and hardened socket for long-lasting wear resistance.
- Sealed joint design helps keep contaminants out and extends service life.
- Reduces steering play and vibration, improving handling and tire life.
- Simple swap for worn or damaged inner tie rods during suspension or steering service.
- Sold as an inner tie rod end suitable for right-hand and left-hand applications.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes per side (experienced DIYer; allow extra time for both sides and alignment)
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, set parking brake, loosen wheel lug nuts slightly, then lift vehicle and secure on jack stands.
- Remove the wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Use a marker to scribe or count the turns on the outer tie rod so you can preserve approximate toe setting during reassembly.
- Remove the cotter pin (if present) and unfasten the castle nut or retaining nut at the outer tie rod-to-steering knuckle connection.
- Separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod separator or pickle fork; do not use excessive hammering that could damage components.
- Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and spin the outer tie rod off the inner tie rod stud until it is free.
- Expose the inner tie rod connection at the steering rack/drag link; apply penetrating oil to fasteners if needed.
- Remove the retaining fastener or use the appropriate inner tie rod tool to unscrew the inner tie rod from the steering rack or linkage.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it into the rack/drag link to the same depth as the original; tighten to factory torque specification.
- Re-thread the outer tie rod onto the new inner tie rod using the pre-marked turns to approximate previous toe position; tighten the jam nut.
- Reattach the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle, torque the retaining nut to spec, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure correct toe and prevent premature tire wear.
