Premium replacement inner tie rod end designed for 1955-1957 Chevrolet passenger cars with manual steering. This right/left hand inner tie rod uses a POM (polyoxymethylene) bearing design to provide precise steering articulation, reduced friction, and long-lasting wear resistance. It restores proper steering geometry, eliminates play, and improves handling and safety compared to worn OE components. Durable construction and corrosion-resistant finishes make it suitable for restoration projects or performance maintenance on classic Chevrolets.
Features:
  • Fits 1955-1957 Chevrolet passenger cars (inner tie rod end, fits right or left hand with manual steering).
  • POM bearing design reduces friction and wear for smoother steering response.
  • Engineered to restore steering geometry and eliminate play from worn inner tie rods.
  • Durable materials and corrosion-resistant finish for long service life in restoration applications.
  • Direct-replacement fit for easy installation during classic car rebuilds and maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wrench set
  • Tie rod removal tool or pickle fork
  • Adjustable pliers
  • Torque wrench
  • Penetrating oil
  • Marker or measuring tape
Instructions:
  1. Securely lift and support the vehicle on jack stands and remove the front wheel on the side to be serviced.
  2. Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and mark the position of the tie rod on the threaded section to preserve alignment.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to the inner tie rod connection and outer tie rod end stud if corroded.
  4. Remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod removal tool or pickle fork, taking care not to damage boot or threads.
  5. Unthread and remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod, counting or measuring turns to maintain alignment reference.
  6. Unthread the inner tie rod from the steering rack or drag link; use appropriate tools and support the assembly to avoid damage.
  7. Install the new inner tie rod hand-tight into the rack, then torque to the manufacturer’s specification.
  8. Re-attach the outer tie rod to the newly installed inner tie rod using the measured turns to approximate original alignment, and tighten the jam nut.
  9. Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque the nut to spec, then install cotter pin if applicable.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and perform a professional wheel alignment to ensure correct steering geometry and tire wear.
