Instructions:
- Secure vehicle on level ground, chock rear wheels, lift front end with jack and support on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the steering linkage.
- Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the steering arm or count turn-in turns on the tie rod for reference to preserve alignment.
- Loosen the jam nut on the outer tie rod and disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod removal tool or pickle fork.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod and set the outer assembly aside.
- Loosen and remove the inner tie rod end from the steering rack using the appropriate wrench or inner tie rod tool; retain any seals or washers if reusing.
- Install the new inner tie rod (right or left hand as required) by threading it into the steering rack to the original depth; hand-tighten then torque to manufacturer specifications.
- Reattach the outer tie rod to the new inner tie rod using the reference marks/counts to restore approximate alignment, then tighten the jam nut.
- Reconnect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and torque the nut to spec; ensure cotter pins are installed if applicable.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and perform a professional wheel alignment to finalize steering geometry.
