Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 3-5 hours (full vehicle kit)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and open doors and tailgate. If comfortable, remove door panels and any trim obstructing the seal channels.
- Carefully remove old weatherstrip pieces. Use a trim tool and adhesive remover to take out old adhesive and rubber without damaging the metal channel.
- Thoroughly clean the mounting channels and flange areas with rubbing alcohol or adhesive remover; allow surfaces to dry.
- Lay out new weatherstrip pieces and match each to its mounting location (doors, windows, tailgate). Test-fit pieces before applying adhesive.
- Apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting flange or channel per the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
- Press the new weatherstrip into place beginning at one end and working to the other. Use masking tape or clamps to hold sections while adhesive cures if needed.
- Trim excess material with a utility knife for a neat fit around corners, latch areas and mounting holes. Reinstall any trim or door panel hardware removed earlier.
- Close each door and the tailgate to check alignment and sealing. Adjust the seal seating or latch striker as necessary to ensure proper compression without pinching.
- Allow adhesive to cure fully per product instructions (typically 24 hours) before exposing the vehicle to moisture or high-pressure washing.
- Perform a final check for gaps or leaks; reapply adhesive to any loose sections and retest.
