Complete weatherstrip seal kit designed for vehicles without a weatherstrip trim groove and equipped with 2-piece style vent seals. Intended for 1981 model applications (verify exact year, make and model fitment before purchase), this kit replaces deteriorated door and vent seals to stop water intrusion, reduce wind noise, and restore proper sealing performance. Made from durable EPDM-style compound and engineered for a precise fit, the kit provides long-lasting resilience against ozone, UV and temperature extremes while simplifying restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
- Fitment: Designed for select 1981 models without a weatherstrip trim groove — verify year, make and model compatibility prior to ordering.
- Complete kit replaces door and 2-piece style vent seals to stop water leaks and reduce wind noise.
- Constructed from durable EPDM-style rubber for long life, flexibility and resistance to UV and ozone.
- Precision-molded profiles ensure accurate sealing, proper alignment and reliable restoration of original function.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools and adhesive; ideal for restoration or routine replacement.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30–90 minutes (per door/pair of vents, depending on prep)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and open the door/vent to be serviced.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip and any retained clips or adhesive with a trim tool and scraper.
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or adhesive cleaner; remove all old adhesive, dirt and oils and allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip pieces to ensure correct orientation and trimming points; mark as needed.
- If adhesive is required, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting surface or to the weatherstrip flange per adhesive manufacturer instructions.
- Position the weatherstrip in place, pressing firmly along the length to seat the profile into position; use masking tape or clamps to hold in place while adhesive sets.
- Trim any excess with a utility knife or scissors for a neat finish, and re-check alignment and seal engagement.
- Allow adhesive to cure per product recommendations before closing doors or exposing to moisture.
