Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1-2 hours
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and disconnect the negative battery terminal if required for trim removal.
- Carefully remove interior trim and any exterior moldings that secure the rear window and existing weatherstrip.
- If needed, have an assistant support the glass with suction cups before loosening retaining clips; remove the old weatherstrip by prying it out gently.
- Thoroughly clean the window flange and surrounding metal with glass cleaner and wipe with isopropyl alcohol to remove residue and old adhesive.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip around the window opening to confirm orientation and fit before final installation.
- Lightly spray the channel or the seal with soapy water or silicone trim lubricant to ease installation.
- Starting at one corner, press the new weatherstrip into the flange channel, working around the perimeter. Use a rubber mallet and block of wood to seat the seal evenly where necessary.
- Reinstall the glass (with assistant if used), retainers, trim pieces, and moldings. Ensure the chrome beltline seats correctly against the new seal.
- Check for uniform seating and adjust as needed. Allow any lubricant to dry, then test for leaks by gently running water over the window.
- Reinstall interior trim, reconnect the battery, and perform a final inspection for fit, finish, and sealing performance.
