Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–3 hours
Instructions:
- Prepare the work area and park the vehicle on a level surface. Gather tools and safety gear.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip and any chrome beltline trim if required, using a trim tool or screwdriver to avoid damaging surrounding metal.
- Clean the channel and mounting surfaces thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or an appropriate adhesive remover to remove old adhesive, dirt and corrosion. Allow surfaces to dry.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip pieces into the groove and along the small rear window opening. Trim excess material if necessary for precise fit.
- Apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or to the weatherstrip backing as recommended by the adhesive manufacturer.
- Press the new weatherstrip into the groove, starting at one end and working toward the other. Use masking tape or clamps to hold sections in place if needed while adhesive sets.
- Reinstall chrome beltline trim, ensuring it seats properly against the new weatherstrip and that all clips or fasteners are secure.
- Remove any excess adhesive promptly with a suitable cleaner. Allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer's instructions (typically 24 hours) before exposing to water or driving at high speeds.
