Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: carefully pry out the existing seal and any retained trim using a plastic trim tool or wrapped screwdriver to avoid scratching surrounding surfaces.
- Clean the channel: remove old adhesive and debris, then wipe the channel with isopropyl alcohol and a clean rag. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal: align the new weatherstrip in the channel (identify left vs right) and verify the trim groove lines up with the garnish molding.
- Trim to length if necessary: if the seal is supplied long or needs minor adjustment, cut carefully with a utility knife or sharp scissors to the correct length.
- Apply adhesive if required: some vehicles benefit from a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive in the channel—apply sparingly per adhesive instructions. Many installs hold securely without adhesive.
- Seat the seal: starting at one end, press the seal into the channel, ensuring the bulb and sealing lip fully engage. Use masking tape to hold corners or ends while adhesive cures, if used.
- Reinstall trim and hardware: reattach any garnish molding, trim, or clips into the trim groove and verify a snug fit.
- Final check: close the door/window and inspect for even contact, gaps, or bulges. Allow adhesive to cure per product directions before driving or exposing to moisture.
