Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip and any attached steel trim. Use a trim tool or screwdriver to pry out stubborn sections.
- Thoroughly clean the window flange and surrounding channel with rubbing alcohol or a suitable solvent. Remove all old adhesive, dirt, and debris.
- Dry-fit the new seal by placing it around the window opening to confirm orientation and that the trim groove aligns with the steel trim.
- If adhesive is recommended, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or to the seal's outer lip per adhesive instructions.
- Begin seating the seal at the top center of the opening and work outward and downward on both sides, pressing the seal into the channel evenly so the trim groove fully engages the steel trim.
- Use painter's tape or clamps to hold the seal in position while adhesive cures (if used). Smooth out any twists or creases as you go.
- Trim any excess material with a utility knife for a clean finish and reinstall any interior trim pieces removed during disassembly.
- Allow adhesive to cure per the manufacturer's recommendations before driving or exposing to moisture.
