This rear window weatherstrip seal with a dedicated trim groove for a lockstrip (WCR 1135 profile) provides a secure, weather-tight seal around the rear glass, preventing water intrusion, wind noise, and vibration. Molded from durable EPDM rubber, the seal resists UV, ozone, and temperature extremes for long-lasting performance and is ideal for restoration or replacement of worn or damaged rear window seals. The lockstrip groove ensures correct retention of the trim for a factory-fit appearance while simplifying installation and improving overall cabin comfort.
Features:
- Designed to fit rear window applications using the WCR 1135 lockstrip profile.
- Constructed from durable EPDM rubber for superior weather, UV, and ozone resistance.
- Integrated trim groove accepts a lockstrip to securely retain exterior trim and glass.
- Creates a reliable, watertight seal to prevent leaks, wind noise, and rattles.
- Easy to test-fit and seat; suitable for restoration projects and replacements.
- Helps restore factory fit and finish for a clean, professional appearance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip and any attached lockstrip; use a trim tool or small screwdriver to avoid scratching the channel.
- Clean the window channel and surrounding area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or cleaner; remove all adhesive residue and debris.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip into the channel to confirm orientation and proper alignment of the trim groove with the lockstrip path.
- If using a separate lockstrip, insert the lockstrip into the weatherstrip groove partially to align; for integrated systems, proceed to seat the seal.
- Lightly wet the channel or weatherstrip with soapy water or mild lubricant to aid sliding; apply weatherstrip adhesive sparingly where manufacturer guidelines recommend.
- Starting at one end, press the weatherstrip into the channel, working along the perimeter. Use a rubber mallet or block of wood to gently seat the seal without deforming it.
- Install or fully engage the lockstrip into the trim groove, ensuring it locks the weatherstrip securely into the channel.
- Trim any excess material with a utility knife, inspect the seal for gaps, and clean off any excess adhesive.
- Allow adhesive to cure per product instructions (if used), then test for leaks by spraying water around the window and checking for intrusion.
