A direct-fit one-piece left and right vent glass weatherstrip seal kit designed to restore a watertight, vibration-free seal for vent (quarter) windows on classic air-cooled Volkswagen vehicles. The one-piece design replaces aged, cracked seals to improve window alignment, stop wind and water intrusion, and restore factory appearance. Constructed from durable, weather-resistant rubber, these seals provide long-lasting resilience against UV, ozone, and temperature cycling for reliable protection and ease of installation during restoration or routine maintenance.
Features:
- Fits classic air-cooled Volkswagen vent windows (Beetle and Type 2/Bus applications using VWK 1110 81)
- One-piece left and right seals included for complete vent window replacement
- Durable weather-resistant rubber (EPDM) resists UV, ozone and temperature extremes
- Restores original fit and finish to stop leaks, reduce wind noise and prevent vibration
- Direct replacement profile engineered to match original window channel dimensions for easy installation
- Ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance to renew appearance and sealing performance
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the vent window assembly from the door following vehicle-specific service procedures (retain screws/fasteners).
- Remove the old weatherstrip: pry out the old seal from the vent window channel and door frame, taking care not to damage the glass or paint.
- Clean mating surfaces: wipe the window channel and surrounding frame with isopropyl alcohol to remove adhesives, dirt and residue.
- Test-fit the new one-piece seal over the vent glass to confirm orientation and fit.
- Apply a light film of silicone lubricant or rubber grease to the seal lip to ease installation.
- Begin seating the new seal on one end of the vent window and work around the perimeter, pressing the seal firmly into the channel. Use a plastic trim tool or soft-faced hammer to fully seat the seal without cutting or overstretching it.
- Reinstall the vent window assembly into the door and secure all fasteners to factory torque/specs.
- Check operation and seal: cycle the vent window open and closed, then inspect for even compression and gaps. Adjust as needed for a uniform seal and test for leaks with a light spray of water.
