The Precision Vent Glass Weatherstrip Seal (Left hand, VWL 1110 81) is a direct-fit rubber seal designed to restore and protect the left vent (quarter) window on classic Volkswagen Type 1 vehicles. It prevents wind noise, water intrusion, and rattles by creating a secure, weather-tight barrier between the vent glass and the door frame. Durable rubber construction resists weathering and compression, offering reliable long-term performance and straightforward installation for restoration or maintenance projects.
Features:
- Fits left-hand vent (quarter) glass on classic Volkswagen Type 1 (Beetle) and related models — verify fitment by part code VWL 1110 81.
- Made from durable, weather-resistant rubber formulated to resist cracking and shrinkage.
- Seals vent glass to the door frame to prevent water leaks, wind noise, and vibration.
- Direct-replacement profile for original vent window channels for accurate alignment.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools — ideal for restoration or routine door seal replacement.
- Helps maintain interior dryness and reduces corrosion risk by blocking moisture entry.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per door
Instructions:
- Remove the interior door panel and any trim pieces obstructing access to the vent window assembly.
- Loosen or remove the vent window pivot screws and any retaining clips to free the vent frame just enough to access the seal.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip from the vent glass channel, noting how the seal seats around the glass and frame.
- Clean the channel and mating surfaces with rubbing alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and grease; allow to dry.
- Apply a light coat of rubber lubricant or soapy water to the new seal to ease installation.
- Align the new weatherstrip with the vent glass and press the sealing lip into the channel, working around the perimeter until fully seated.
- Reinstall the vent frame into the door, secure pivot screws/clips, and adjust alignment so the glass closes flush without binding.
- Reinstall the interior door panel and test the vent glass for smooth operation and a watertight seal; make final adjustments if needed.
