The Precision Windshield Weatherstrip Seal with Trim Groove (WCR 685 A) is a direct-fit windshield seal designed to accept steel trim while providing a secure, watertight barrier between the glass and body flange. It prevents water intrusion, reduces wind noise and vibration, and protects paint and trim edges from chafing. Molded from durable, weather-resistant rubber with a precision profile, this seal restores OEM appearance and function for vehicles that use a steel exterior trim strip.
Features:
- Designed with a trim groove to accept steel exterior windshield trim (WCR 685 A profile).
- Durable, weather-resistant rubber construction resists ozone, UV, and temperature extremes.
- Creates a watertight seal to prevent leaks and reduce wind noise and vibration.
- Restores factory appearance and alignment for easier trim reinstallation.
- Press-fit design for reliable retention; compatible with restoration and replacement projects.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the old windshield trim and weatherstrip. Protect painted surfaces with tape as needed.
- Clean the windshield flange and trim channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove adhesive residue, dirt, and sealant.
- Dry-fit the new seal to confirm orientation: the groove should face outward to accept the steel trim and the bulb should seat against the glass edge.
- If adhesive is recommended for your vehicle, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the flange per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
- Begin installation at one corner of the windshield. Press the seal into the channel, working around the perimeter. Use a rubber mallet or block of wood to evenly seat the seal without twisting.
- Trim any excess material at the corners as needed for a flush fit. Reinstall the steel trim into the groove, starting at one end and working to the other, ensuring even engagement.
- Secure trim temporarily with masking tape while adhesive cures (if used). Allow adhesive to set per product instructions before driving.
- Inspect the seal and trim for gaps, and test for leaks after installation by gently spraying water around the windshield perimeter.
