The Precision Metal Stamped Molding Clip 1102 004 is a heavy-duty, stamped metal fastener engineered to securely retain exterior and interior trim and moldings. Its durable metal construction provides superior strength and resistance to deformation compared with plastic clips, ensuring a tight, vibration-free fit that helps prevent rattles and trim sag over time. Designed as a direct-fit replacement for worn or broken OEM clips, this part speeds restoration and repair projects by delivering consistent retention and long-lasting performance. Easy to install and ideal for body, trim, and restoration work, it’s a reliable choice for professional and DIY applications.
Features:
- Durable stamped metal construction resists bending and deformation.
- Designed to securely fasten exterior and interior moldings, preventing vibration and rattling.
- Direct replacement for common OEM-style molding clips used in trim restoration and repair.
- Corrosion-resistant finish improves longevity in exterior mounting locations.
- Simple push-in and snap-fit installation for quick repairs and assembly.
- Ideal for restoring original fit and finish on aging body and trim components.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 15-30 minutes (per panel)
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the molding or trim piece using a trim removal tool or flat screwdriver, working along the panel to avoid bending the trim.
- Locate and remove the old or damaged clip(s). If corroded, apply penetrating oil, allow it to soak, then pry or cut the old clip free with pliers.
- Clean the clip mounting channel of dirt, rust, and adhesive residue so the new clip can seat fully.
- Test-fit the new clip by aligning the clip’s retention tangs with the channel or pre-drilled holes to ensure proper orientation.
- Press the clip into the channel or hole until it seats flush. Use needle-nose pliers for leverage or a rubber mallet with a block to gently tap the clip into place if extra force is needed.
- Align the molding with the installed clips and press firmly along the length so each clip engages and snaps into the trim’s retaining feature.
- Inspect the installed trim for even gaps and secure fit; re-seat any clips that did not fully engage.
- Replace any additional clips as needed to restore original fit and finish; use anti-seize or light lubricant on metal-to-metal contact areas if reinstallation is difficult.
