Front outer tie rod end (right/left hand) designed for 1969-1970 Chevrolet passenger vehicles. This precision-machined steering component secures the outer end of the tie rod to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper steering geometry, alignment, and safe vehicle handling. Built for strength and long service life, it reduces play and vibrations transmitted through the steering system, restoring crisp steering response. The part is easy to install during routine steering or suspension maintenance, making it ideal for restoration projects and repairs where reliable, durable steering components are required.
Features:
- Fits 1969-1970 Chevrolet (front outer tie rod end, right and left hand applications).
- Forged steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long-term durability.
- Replaces worn or damaged outer tie rod ends to restore proper steering alignment.
- Ball-and-socket design reduces play and vibration for improved steering response.
- Pre-greased sealed joint for maintenance-free operation and extended service life.
- Direct-fit replacement for quick swap during restoration or routine repairs.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, then raise the front of the vehicle and support with jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end where it connects to the steering knuckle; remove the cotter pin and loosen the castellated nut (if equipped) or main lock nut securing the tie rod end to the knuckle.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod to allow unscrewing the outer tie rod end. Count or mark the number of turns required to remove it to preserve approximate alignment.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle. Be careful not to damage the knuckle or boot.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns noted earlier (or to match steering geometry). Install the new outer tie rod end by threading it onto the inner tie rod to the same position.
- Insert the new tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the nut to the manufacturer's specified torque, and install a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Tighten the jam nut against the outer tie rod end to lock the adjustment. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
- Because precise steering alignment is critical, have a professional front-end alignment performed after installation.
