Direct-replacement idler arm engineered for 1967-1970 Chevrolet vehicles to restore precise steering geometry and remove play from the steering linkage. This heavy-duty idler arm secures the passenger-side of the center link, providing stable pivot support that improves tracking, reduces wander, and prolongs tie rod and steering component life. Built from hardened steel with a serviceable grease fitting and corrosion-resistant finish, it offers reliable, long-lasting performance for restoration projects or routine maintenance. Easy to install with common hand tools, it returns crisp steering feel and improves vehicle safety and road manners.
Features:
  • Fits 1967-1970 Chevrolet cars and light trucks requiring a replacement idler arm
  • Hardened steel construction for durability and long service life
  • Restores correct steering geometry and reduces play in the linkage
  • Greaseable design for easy maintenance and extended bushing life
  • Direct OE-style replacement for straightforward installation during restoration or repair
  • Corrosion-resistant finish helps protect against rust and environmental wear
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Combination wrenches
  • Pitman arm or tie rod puller (or ball joint separator)
  • Torque wrench

Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, chock rear wheels, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, lift vehicle with floor jack and secure on jack stands, then remove the front wheel on the passenger side if needed for access.
  2. Apply penetrating oil to the idler arm mounting bolts and to the center link taper if corroded; allow to soak.
  3. Support the center link with a jack or pry bar to prevent sudden movement when removing the idler arm.
  4. Remove the nut(s) securing the idler arm to the frame or crossmember and detach the idler arm from the center link using a puller or separator as required.
  5. Compare the new idler arm to the old unit to confirm correct fitment and orientation.
  6. Install the new idler arm onto the frame/crossmember and onto the center link; hand-start fasteners.
  7. Torque mounting bolts and nut(s) to factory specifications using a torque wrench.
  8. Grease the fitting on the new idler arm with a grease gun until fresh grease appears in the boot or per manufacturer recommendations.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque lug nuts to specification, and road-test. Have the steering alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
