Inner tie rod end (right or left hand) designed for 2008–2013 Chevrolet and Pontiac models. This replacement part secures the steering rack to the steering knuckle, translating rack movement into wheel direction. Built for durability and reliable steering response, it restores proper alignment geometry, reduces play in the steering system, and helps prevent premature tire wear. The part is engineered for direct-fit installation, making it suitable for repair, maintenance, or full steering-system restoration projects.
Features:
- Fitment: Direct-fit inner tie rod end for 2008–2013 Chevrolet and Pontiac models (right or left hand).
- Material: High-strength forged stud with corrosion-resistant plating for long service life.
- Function: Connects the steering rack to the outer tie rod, ensuring precise steering input transfer.
- Durability: Greaseable ball joint and robust housing resist wear and reduce play over time.
- Ease of use: Designed for straightforward replacement with common hand tools and standard procedures.
- Restoration: Ideal for repairing worn steering components to restore alignment and reduce tire wear.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Prepare vehicle: Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Lift vehicle: Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the wheel.
- Mark orientation: Mark the position of the outer tie rod relative to the inner tie rod or count turns to preserve length for initial alignment.
- Loosen jam nut: Loosen the outer/inner tie rod jam nut securing the inner tie rod to the outer tie rod or steering linkage.
- Disconnect outer tie rod: Remove cotter pin and castellated nut (if present) from the outer tie rod end, then separate the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle using a puller or pickle fork.
- Remove inner tie rod: Unscrew the inner tie rod from the steering rack or outer tie rod (depending on assembly). Use appropriate tools to avoid damaging the steering rack.
- Install new inner tie rod: Thread the replacement inner tie rod into place to the marked position or same number of turns as removed. If greaseable, apply grease per specification.
- Tighten and secure: Torque the inner tie rod and jam nut to manufacturer-specified values. Reinstall the outer tie rod to the knuckle and torque the nut, inserting a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall wheel and lower vehicle: Refit wheel, tighten lug nuts snugly, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Final steps: Have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure correct toe-in and prevent uneven tire wear.
