Outer left-hand tie rod end for 2008–2013 Chevrolet and Pontiac vehicles designed to secure the steering linkage to the steering knuckle. This precision-engineered steering component maintains proper alignment, ensures responsive steering, and reduces play in the steering system. Constructed from hardened steel with a corrosion-resistant finish and a durable greaseable or sealed ball joint (depending on application), it delivers long-lasting reliability and helps prevent uneven tire wear. Easy to install as a direct replacement for worn or damaged parts, it’s an essential component for restoring safe, accurate steering on compatible Chevy and Pontiac models.
Features:
  • Fits 2008–2013 Chevrolet and Pontiac models (outer left-hand tie rod end) — confirm fitment with vehicle VIN or parts catalog.
  • Hardened steel construction for strength and durability under steering loads.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish helps extend service life in varied climates.
  • Precision ball joint reduces steering play for improved handling and tire wear prevention.
  • Direct replacement design for straightforward restoration or repair of worn steering linkage.
  • Available with grease fitting or factory-sealed joint depending on OE application for maintenance flexibility.
  • Easy-to-install part that restores steering response and alignment retention.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands or vehicle lift
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Open-end wrenches
  • Torque wrench
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Hammer
  • Needle-nose pliers (for cotter pin)
  • Grease gun (if greaseable)
  • Measuring tape or caliper (for pre-fitment measurement)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands. Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
  3. Locate the outer left tie rod end at the steering knuckle. Loosen but do not remove the jam nut at the inner tie rod unless replacement requires measuring.
  4. Record the length or count the turns required to remove the tie rod end to preserve approximate alignment, or measure from a fixed point for reference.
  5. Remove the cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castle nut or nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  6. Use a tie rod end puller or a pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. A sharp tap with a hammer to the knuckle may help release it.
  7. Unscrew the tie rod end from the inner tie rod the recorded number of turns to maintain alignment. Remove the old part.
  8. Thread the new outer left tie rod end onto the inner tie rod the same number of turns as removed. If the part is greaseable, apply grease through the fitting.
  9. Insert the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle and hand-tighten the nut. Torque to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification and install a new cotter pin if required.
  10. Tighten the jam nut against the tie rod end to secure the assembly.
  11. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, torque the wheel lug nuts to spec, and perform a safety check.
  12. Because turning angles may change slightly during replacement, have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure proper toe settings and prevent uneven tire wear.
