Front lower ball joint designed for 1970–2005 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Isuzu, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac models. This replacement ball joint secures the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper suspension alignment and steering geometry. Built to withstand road stresses, it restores safe handling, reduces play and vibration, and extends the life of related suspension components. Ideal for suspension restoration and routine maintenance where reliable, durable performance is required.

Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket and wrench set
  • Ball joint press or hydraulic press (or appropriate removal/installation tool)
  • Hammer and punch
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Torque wrench
  • Pry bar
  • Penetrating oil
  • Safety glasses and gloves
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, loosen front lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
  3. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners and allow to soak if needed.
  4. Remove cotter pin and loosen the castle nut or retaining nut on the ball joint stud.
  5. Separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or suitable pry method; support the knuckle to avoid stressing brake lines.
  6. If applicable, remove any retaining bolts or snap rings securing the ball joint to the control arm.
  7. Use a ball joint press or hydraulic press to press out the old ball joint from the lower control arm. Clean the control arm bore of rust and debris.
  8. Press the new ball joint into the control arm until it seats fully. Install any retaining clips or rings if required.
  9. Reattach the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle, torque the retaining nut to the manufacturer's specification, and install a new cotter pin if required.
  10. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
  11. Perform an alignment check after installation to verify proper steering geometry and tire wear prevention.
