Complete weatherstrip seal kit designed for vehicles that originally used plain (non-chrome) weatherstrip trim. Fits select 1978 models without chrome weatherstrip trim (verify vehicle-specific fitment). The kit supplies OEM-style EPDM rubber seals to restore proper door, window, and trunk sealing — preventing water intrusion, reducing wind noise, and improving cabin comfort. Durable, ozone- and temperature-resistant materials ensure long service life, and the complete set simplifies restoration or replacement projects with easy test-fit and adhesive-install application.
Features:
- Fits select 1978 models without chrome weatherstrip trim — verify fitment for your vehicle before purchase.
- Complete kit includes all primary EPDM rubber seals for doors, trunk, and related openings.
- OEM-style profile recreates original sealing surface for proper alignment and fit.
- EPDM construction resists ozone, UV, temperature extremes, and hardening for long-term durability.
- Helps eliminate water leaks, wind noise, and rattles — ideal for restoration or maintenance.
- Supplies a ready-to-install solution that speeds up trim restoration projects.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1–2 hours (typical, per vehicle)
Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: carefully pull out existing seals and use a trim tool to release any clips or adhesive without damaging the metal channel.
- Clean the mounting channels: scrape away old adhesive and contaminants, then wipe with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.
- Test-fit new seals: position the new EPDM pieces in place without adhesive to confirm orientation and trim length; trim to fit if necessary.
- Apply adhesive: follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. Apply a thin, even bead to the channel and/or seal flange as recommended.
- Install the weatherstrip: press the seal firmly into the channel, starting at one end and working around the perimeter. Use masking tape temporarily to hold seams if needed.
- Seat and secure: ensure corners and joints are tightly mated; use light heat (if safe for the material) to help conform awkward areas, then remove masking tape after initial set.
- Cure time: allow the adhesive to set per product instructions (typically several hours) before closing doors or exposing to moisture.
- Final check: inspect for gaps, ensure proper door/window alignment, and make minor adjustments if required.
