The Precision Rear Window Weatherstrip Seal Kit (2-piece, WKT 5561 L) is engineered to restore a tight, watertight seal around the rear window opening of GM Second Series vehicles. The kit replaces worn or cracked seals with precision-molded, weather-resistant rubber to stop water intrusion, reduce wind noise, and protect interior trim and glass edges. Designed for restoration and maintenance projects, these seals improve cabin comfort, preserve correct glass alignment, and are built for long-term resistance to ozone, UV and temperature extremes. The two-piece design simplifies installation and ensures an accurate fit for vehicles using the WKT 5561 L configuration.
Features:
- Fits GM Second Series rear window openings — 2-piece kit WKT 5561 L.
- Precision-molded, weather-resistant rubber compound resists ozone, UV and temperature extremes.
- Restores a watertight, vibration- and wind-noise-reducing seal around the rear window.
- Two-piece design for correct fitment and easier replacement of worn or cracked original seals.
- Ideal for restoration projects or routine maintenance to preserve glass alignment and interior trim.
- Installs with common hand tools and weatherstrip adhesive—no specialized equipment required.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30–60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and remove rear window trim if required by the vehicle design.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: use a trim tool or flat-blade screwdriver to pry out the worn seal without damaging the glass or channel.
- Clean the mounting channel thoroughly with solvent or isopropyl alcohol to remove adhesive residue, dirt and old sealant. Allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit both new weatherstrip pieces in the channel to confirm orientation and fit. Trim any excess if necessary for a perfect fit.
- Apply a thin, even coat of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting channel (and to the seal backing if recommended by the adhesive manufacturer). Allow adhesive to become tacky per the adhesive instructions.
- Press the weatherstrip firmly into place, starting at one end and working around the opening to avoid gaps. Use masking tape to hold sections in position if needed while adhesive sets.
- Reinstall any trim pieces removed earlier and inspect the seal for gaps or misalignment. Adjust as needed before the adhesive fully cures.
- Allow adhesive to cure for the time specified by the adhesive manufacturer (typically several hours) before exposing to moisture or driving at highway speeds.
