Instructions:
- Park on level ground, set parking brake, loosen lug nuts, lift vehicle and support on jack stands.
- Remove the wheel to access the steering linkage.
- Mark the position of the old outer tie rod on the inner tie rod (count turns or mark alignment) to preserve alignment.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod, then remove the cotter pin (if present) and unfasten the castle nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Use a tie rod end puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns you noted, then remove the old unit.
- Screw the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to match the original position, tighten the jam nut, and seat the ball stud into the steering knuckle.
- Install and torque the castle nut to manufacturer specification, insert a new cotter pin if required, and grease the joint if a grease fitting is present.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
- Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
