Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5

Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands.
- Remove the front wheel to access the tie rod assembly.
- Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners if corroded.
- Mark the position of the old tie rod end on the threaded steering rack or inner tie rod (count turns or measure length) to preserve alignment.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod and remove the cotter pin (if equipped) and castellated nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
- Use a tie rod puller or a hammer/pickle fork to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle without damaging other components.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod, counting turns to match the marked position, and remove the old part.
- Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the previously marked position or same number of turns. Tighten the jam nut to secure.
- Insert the stud into the steering knuckle, torque the retaining nut to the vehicle manufacturer specification, and install a new cotter pin if required.
- If the new part has a grease fitting, apply grease with a grease gun per recommendations.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to spec.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
