Direct-fit tie rod end designed for 1982–1998 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac models to restore steering precision and safety. This replacement tie rod end secures the steering linkage, reduces play and vibration, and helps maintain proper wheel alignment. Constructed from hardened steel with corrosion-resistant coating and a sealed ball joint, it delivers long-lasting durability and reliable performance for routine maintenance or full front-end restorations. Simple to install for DIY mechanics and professional shops alike, it’s an essential component for restoring proper steering response and vehicle handling.
Features:
  • Fitment: Direct replacement for 1982–1998 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac models.
  • Durable steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for extended service life.
  • Sealed ball joint design helps keep out contaminants and maintain smooth steering operation.
  • Restores steering precision, reduces play and vibration, and supports proper wheel alignment.
  • Easy installation as a direct-fit replacement—ideal for restoration or routine suspension maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Wrenches or socket set (commonly 17mm–24mm)
  • Tie rod end puller or pickle fork
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Hammer
  • Grease (if applicable)
Instructions:
  1. Park on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise vehicle with a jack and secure on jack stands; remove the front wheel.
  3. Locate the outer tie rod end at the steering knuckle. Remove cotter pin (if present) and loosen the castle nut or retaining nut.
  4. Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or a pickle fork and light hammer taps as needed.
  5. Loosen the jam nut at the inner tie rod and count the number of turns required to remove the old outer tie rod end — this helps preserve alignment.
  6. Unscrew the old tie rod end from the inner tie rod and thread the new tie rod end on the same number of turns to approximate original alignment.
  7. Install the new tie rod end into the steering knuckle, tighten the retaining nut to manufacturer torque spec, and install a new cotter pin if required.
  8. Tighten the jam nut against the new tie rod end, reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
  9. After installation, have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure correct toe settings and optimal handling.
