Outer tie rod end (right/left hand) designed for 1997–2014 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac models. This replacement part secures the steering linkage to the steering knuckle and transmits steering input while allowing suspension articulation. Built for reliable steering response and long service life, it restores correct alignment geometry and helps eliminate play, vibration, and uneven tire wear. Ideal for routine maintenance or suspension restoration on compatible vehicles.
Features:
- Fits 1997–2014 Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac models — outer tie rod end, right or left hand.
- Heavy-duty construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long-term durability.
- Precisely machined ball stud and hardened socket to maintain tight steering feel and reduce play.
- Sealed dust boot protects internal components from dirt and moisture to extend service life.
- Direct-fit replacement for OE dimensions — no modification required and simplifies alignment.
- Restoration-grade part that helps correct steering geometry and prevent premature tire wear.
- Easy-to-install design compatible with standard suspension service procedures.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake and block rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, lift vehicle with jack and secure on jack stands, then remove the wheel.
- Locate the outer tie rod end connecting the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod; mark the position of the old tie rod on the threaded shaft with a marker or measure thread turns from a reference point to preserve alignment.
- Remove the cotter pin (if equipped) and loosen the castle nut or retaining nut on the tie rod end.
- Separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller or a pickle fork, taking care not to damage the knuckle.
- Unscrew the outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns measured earlier, or count turns to match the original position.
- Thread the new outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position or until it matches the original turn count; ensure the orientation (right- or left-hand) matches the removed part.
- Insert the ball stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the retaining nut to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque, and install a new cotter pin if required.
- Tighten any lock nuts on the inner tie rod to spec and ensure all fasteners are torqued to OEM values.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the lug nuts to specification.
- Because exact steering geometry may have changed, have a professional wheel alignment performed immediately after replacement to ensure proper handling and tire wear.
