Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Locate the outer right-hand tie rod end connecting the steering knuckle to the inner tie rod. Clean the area to see components clearly.
- Mark the position of the tie rod end on the threaded portion of the inner tie rod (count turns or measure) to preserve alignment.
- Remove the cotter pin (if equipped) and loosen the castellated nut on the tie rod end stud.
- Use a tie rod puller or pickle fork to separate the tie rod end stud from the steering knuckle. Do not strike the steering knuckle directly with excessive force.
- Loosen the jam nut on the inner tie rod and unthread the old outer tie rod end from the inner tie rod the same number of turns you noted earlier.
- Thread the new outer right-hand tie rod end onto the inner tie rod to the marked position. Tighten the jam nut against the tie rod end to secure it.
- Insert the tie rod end stud into the steering knuckle, tighten the castellated nut to the manufacturer's torque specification, and install a new cotter pin if required.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper tracking and prevent uneven tire wear.
